CHRISTA FOX

Visionary Artist, Dancer and Writer

Born 1957 in Shifnal, Shropshire, England.
Grew up in the countryside of Yorkshire and Cheshire.
Studied Arts - Painting, English and Theatre Studies at Manchester Polytechnic and then Lancaster University.
Raised a son in Saffron Walden, Essex and joined Cambridge Artworks.
Studied Printmaking and exhibited in various mixed exhibitions in and around Cambridge from 1994-1997.

Moved to Glastonbury in 1997 which heralded the start of five intensely inspirational and creative years, and a whole new direction in my work. Greatly inspired by the mystery of the sacred sites and the Goddess, I started painting large acrylic canvases of mystical landscapes and feminine-bodied trees, giving birth to the new world. These large canvases are characterised by rainbow skies and vivid glowing colours.

I started exhibiting at the Goddess Conference, Woman Spirit Exhibition in 1998 in Glastonbury. Many solo and joint exhibitions followed at the Café Galatea, Chalice Well Gardens and the George's Room, Glastonbury. I began experimenting with creative workshops combining Expressive Dance with Painting called "Sweat Your Prayers & Paint Your Dreams", using live drummers. In 1998 I took my first creative workshop to Crete, entitled "Art in the Sun".

In March 2002 I left Glastonbury to create a new life in Crete where I am setting up Creative Workshops in various holistic centres for people looking for an alternative holiday abroad.

I am now based in Paleochora, on the south-west coast of Crete, a beautiful, unspoilt coastal town, where the people are warm and vibrant, and the sun constantly shines on the blue sea. It is an incredibly inspiring place to live with breathtaking scenery, fabulous sunny weather and pulsing creative energy.
